As farmers, gardeners, and consumers have shown increased interest in preparing their own grain flour from whole seeds, Jefferson Institute staff conducted an Internet search of products that can serve as table-top grain grinders.ÿ The Institute has not tested these products, and listing the companies here does not constitute an endorsement.
The following list includes a variety of websites that sell both electric and hand crank grain mills.ÿ Mills are available at a variety of prices.ÿ Hand crank mills range in price from $40-$325, while electric mills are available for $160-$430.ÿ Both stone and steel mills are available. Operation speeds vary from model to model from 1-4 minutes per cup of flour, and hopper capacities vary from 2-7 pounds.ÿ Additionally, various attachments, which allow the mills to grind larger seeds such as coffeebeans or even grind meat are available for purchase.
