The Jefferson Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Columbia, MO. Programs include a variety of education, research and market development efforts aimed at improving the long-term viability of family farms. A primary focus of the Institute staff has been assisting farmers with diversification, by providing help on how to grow and market a variety of alternative grains, oilseeds and other specialty crops. Education The Institute is named after Thomas Jefferson because of his strong interest in alternative crops and improving American agriculture.
